Monthly Archives: June 2013
My New Year’s Resolution for 2013 was to learn Blender. You know what they say; better late than never! My book on 3D modelling and animation arrived in the post today. I’m very excited and can’t wait to start using this amazing programme.
If you’re familiar with 3D software you might have heard of blender before. It’s an open source software, so totally free (although donations are encouraged). More info here: http://www.blender.org/
In the last few weeks my time has been spent illustrating a second children’s picture book called; “My Monster”.
This is a story that I’ve been working on since 2010 (if I remember correctly) but it wasn’t until last September when I actually got some serious ideas and the feel of the characters/designs for the story. I’ve tried several styles (some of them are here on my blog, click here) and I must have re-drawn the Monster and the little girl, Alberta (it’s her monster), about a million times. In May I finally managed to come up with something that I’m happy with towards the characters/illustrations. Here’s a picture of the two characters:
Self portrait – work in progress.
It’s been almost five years since I started writing and illustrating the story of a little acorn named Agosto. So, as you can imagine, I am mighty relived that it is now FINALLY coming to an end.
The notes on the print copy belong to my editor; Fayita Bonita, who has kindly decided to give me some layout tips. I’m hoping to send off the final copy to the printers this week. Yay!
